Steps
- Look for any "deletions" or "exclusions" in your roof truss quote. Most quotes do not include temporary or permanent bracing, as well as, engineering to install your roof truss system on your building. Local codes sometimes require a certified or licensed engineer to approve the bracing of the roof truss system.
- Look for any comments related to "fill in" framing areas. Some truss manufacturers do not include in there quotes, roof trusses to form valleys or ridge areas. This is accomplished by "field framing" using loose lumber to frame these areas.
- If you do not receive a quote that specifically lists all items being supplied, ask for one. Ask the truss manufacturer to give you a detailed list of what roof trusses they are supplying and if bracing and/or any in-fill areas are included.
Tips
- Ask if temporary or permanent bracing is included
- Ask if engineering for bracing is included
- Ask if any "in-fill" areas are missing and will have to be performed by others
- Ask for a detailed truss quote can be provided listing all items supplied
Warnings
- Just because the price is the lowest you receive, doesn't mean it is the best price possible.
- What you don't pay for now - you might have to pay for later (if not more).
